Stockton Institute for Continued Learning (SICL) Free Friday Speaker Series
March 8 Topic: "Chile and the U.S.A.-A Rocky History"
Nowadays Chile is the safest and most trustworthy U.S. ally in Latin America. Yet both countries have —several times in the last two hundred years— crossed each other’s paths with unsavory results. This lecture will not only educate you about a country of extremes, but will also shed light on some obscure episodes of the U.S.-Chilean relations, from the hegemony of the Pacific commerce route to the brink of war.
Speaker: Chilean-born Roberto Radrigan spent eight years in college-trotting, studying architecture, art and design both in his native country and in the United States. Discovering writing skills, he spent nine years as a Sunday Record columnist, co-founded and directed various bilingual publications in the County and is currently the editor and publisher of Joaquin magazine.
