2nd Saturday events are designed for children ages 5-12, and feature an enchanting read-out-loud experience and art activity thoughtfully designed for young readers and budding artists! Each session features a hands-on project inspired by the story and a carefully selected book aligned with our exhibits or monthly theme. Reservations are not required, but seating is available on a first come-first served basis. Materials and activities are included with regular museum admission.
Experience the wonder of winter through art and story. Children will paint their own snowy owl masterpiece, inspired by the majestic owl featured in A Life in the Wild, the stunning wildlife photography exhibit by Thomas D. Mangelsen. Then enjoy listening to The Christmas Owl by Gideon Sterer and Ellen Kalish, a touching tale based on the true story of a little owl found in the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree who gets a second chance at life.
