What do these all have in common? Why, oak trees of course!
Join docent Margaret Pearson Pinkham for this easy one-hour, 1/2 mile walk on the level and paved Yokuts Trail (accessible). Fall season in the Valley Oak Woodland can seem a little inactive, yet so many wonderful things are happening that we might not see immediately—acorns are ripening, woodpeckers are pecking holes for those acorns, and fantastically shaped galls are incubating several species of teeny-tiny gall wasps on limbs and leaves.
Free event, no registration required. $6 (cash) park entry fee per car. The air-conditioned Nature Center will be open after the walk. Please, no pets. This event repeats on the first Sunday of the month in September (9/1), October (10/6) and November (11/3). Meet at the Yokuts Trailhead at 11 am.
