2nd Saturday events are designed for children ages 5-12, and feature an enchanting read-out-loud experience and art activity thoughtfully designed for young readers and budding artists! Each session features a hands-on project inspired by the story and a carefully selected book aligned with our exhibits or monthly theme. Reservations are not required, but seating is available on a first come-first served basis. Materials and activities are included with regular museum admission.
Families will kick off the new year with Mosaic Paper Tiger collage, inspired by Jo Weaver’s gentle tale, Little Tigers. Using bright paper shapes, children will design bold, patterned tigers while reflecting on themes of strength and resilience. This project connects with the temporary exhibition Thomas Mangelsen: A Life in the Wild, which showcases breathtaking wildlife photography that highlights the power and beauty of animals in their natural habitats.
